FIGO is committed to supporting researchers and helping ensure that financial barriers do not stand in the way of attending Congress. At FIGO Cape Town 2025, we were delighted to support more than 50 bursary recipients, alongside our fellowship placements, enabling researchers from across the global community to take part in Congress. Applications for bursaries and fellowships for FIGO Montréal 2027 will open alongside the call for submissions on 18 September. Please note that an accepted submission is required for a successful bursary or fellowship application.
FIGO bursaries are designed to help delegates from low-income countries and countries experiencing ongoing conflict overcome financial barriers and attend FIGO Montréal 2027. Successful applicants will receive a USD $1,000 stipend, paid after attending Congress, to contribute towards travel, accommodation, registration and other expenses. Bursaries are awarded based on financial need, the applicant’s contribution to Congress through their accepted submission, the potential impact of attending on their professional development, and the wider opportunity to advance women’s health and rights beyond the individual applicant. By helping remove financial barriers to attendance, FIGO aims to ensure that a diverse range of voices, experiences and expertise can be represented at Congress.
Bursary applications will close alongside the call for submissions on 29 October 2026.
The FIGO and Chien-Tien Hsu Research Foundation Fellowship offers up to two obstetricians and gynaecologists, beginning a career in gynaecologic oncology, the opportunity to gain valuable clinical and research experience in Canada, ahead of attending FIGO Montréal 2027. Fellows will complete a five-day placement in Canada and be awarded a USD $5,000 grant to support their travel and other expenses. The fellowship is designed to support the development of the next generation of gynaecologic oncology professionals, providing an opportunity to broaden clinical experience, strengthen research skills and build valuable international connections.
To be eligible, applicants must be aged 40 or younger, communicate fluently in English, hold a postgraduate degree in obstetrics and gynaecology, be engaged in a research project in gynaecological oncology and have an accepted abstract for FIGO Montréal 2027.
Fellowship applications will close on 15 November 2026.
